MORAGA, Calif. – The Gaels put five boats in the water for their first race of the season on Saturday at the Head of the American, where they had a number of strong finishes.
Racing first for SMC were the varsity eight boats in a field of 21 other competitors from 12 other schools. The Gael boat that came in first recorded a time of 18:58.3, while the next SMC boat was just a few minutes behind with a time of 20:10.7. Next up were the three varsity four boats who all ended within the top-12 in the field of 18 opponents.
