SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Junior right-handed pitcher Cameron Neff was named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week Monday for the week of April 25-May 1 after a stellar Sunday performance and a shutout relief outing against a top-20 team.
Neff made two appearances during the week – one relief and one start – throwing 9 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings before allowing a run and striking out 16. In his start Sunday against San Francisco, Neff struck out a career-high 14 while holding the Dons scoreless for 8 1/3 innings before finally allowing runs in the ninth, as he led the Gaels to their sixth straight WCC series victory with a 4-2 win in the series finale.
