LAS VEGAS – Saint Mary's Men's Tennis defeated Grand Canyon University 4-3 at host UNLV's Fertitta Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon for their second-consecutive victory.
The Lopes took the doubles point to start the match, but Saint Mary's play in the singles side would power them to the win. Each Gaels singles win required three sets, with Paulo Etchecoin coming the closest to having a two-set match, but instead had a convincing third-set win in a 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 victory to clinch the win.
Diego Jarry's 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Pablo Salvador set the tone, and Thibaud Maxant came back brilliantly from a 6-1 loss in the first set, to win 6-3 and 7-6 over the last two.
