MALIBU, Calif. — In the conference opener, Saint Mary’s (5-9, 0-1 WCC) fell to Pepperdine, 4-0 at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
The Gaels battled and forced tightly contested points, but ultimately fell to the West Coast Conference preseason favorites.
The Waves (6-7, 2-0 WCC) claimed the early doubles point with victories on courts 1 and 2.
Three singles matches went unfinished. Damon Kesaris got the nod as the top singles player, and split the first two sets. Kesaris won the first set 6-4 before falling a break in the second set.
Nash Vollenweider went back-and-forth on court 2 in a highly competitive match.
