FRESNO, Calif. — The Gaels had a fantastic start to the Bulldog Classic on Friday by winning 10 of their 12 matches on the first day of the tournament.
Saint Mary's nearly swept all eight of their singles matches by picking up seven wins. Five of their seven victories came in straight sets.
Abhishek Bastola had the most dominant performance in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win. Jackson Hawk and Andy Watterson also only allowed their opponents to win five games in their straight set matches.
Matis Bot battled through a close first set and then closed out his match against Anton De La Puenta from Sac State, 7-6(3), 6-0.
