STOCKTON, Calif. — Saint Mary's picked up six wins on the opening day on the Pacific Invitational on Friday including five victories in singles play.
Four of the Gaels' five singles wins came in straight sets. James Watt had the most dominant performance of the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-1 win over his opponent from Holy Names. Jackson Hawk, Boris Reckow, and Akbarmirzo Mamirov also won their matches in two sets while Abishek Bastola grinded out a three-set victory against Gvidas Motuzas from Nevada, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.
