HONOLULU — The Saint Mary's men's tennis team (2-2) battled hard on Wednesday in their second contest against the Rainbow Warriors (4-4), but ultimately fell 6-1.
Matis Bot recorded the lone victory for the Gaels on Court 5 as he easily defeated Simao Telo Alves in a 6-1, 6-1 win for his fourth straight win of the season. Bot has not dropped a singles match so far this year while as the No. 5 seed. Following the win for Bot, Hawaii went on to clinch the next four matches in singles action.
Despite the Rainbow Warriors taking the doubles point, Saint Mary's tandem Bot and Karlo Divkovic kept a close contest with Hawaii duo Chia-Hua Lu and Telo Alves, but were unable to overcome their opponents in a 7-5 decision.
