PALO ALTO, Calif. – Saint Mary's Men's Soccer fell 4-0 to No. Stanford on Friday night in the Gaels final tune up before WCC play begins next week.
The first 10-plus minutes belonged to Stanford, with the Cardinal getting off four shots while controlling the ball in the Gaels end of the field. Two shots were blocked by Timothy Stepehens as he slid down to the turf, one narrowly missed wide right after a corner kick, and one required a diving save by Jack Landreth to his right.
In the 14th minute the Cardinal would break through when Zach Bohane settled down a loose ball right at the top of the penalty area, and blasted a left-footed shot into the left side of the net past the leaping attempt from Landreth to make it 1-0 Stanford.
