MORAGA, Calif. – No. 6 Saint Mary's put up a hard-fought battle on Thursday against UC Davis but ultimately fell 4-2 for their first loss since 2017.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gaels took the lead in the 20th minute on just their second shot of the match when Anders Engebretsen found a streaking Joseph Restani on the far right post for a tap in goal. The tally was Restani's second of the year and Engebretsen's fourth assist.
UC Davis tied the match just minutes into the second half as Whalen Shinn found a rebound in front of the net and scored from six yards out.
