MORAGA, Calif. — No. 4 Saint Mary's took down Santa Clara on Sunday in a heart-pounding overtime win. The game-winning goal was scored in the early moments of the first overtime period and secured the 2-1 win over the Broncos to remain undefeated.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first goal of the match came in the 54th minute after Saint Mary's was awarded a penalty kick following a foul in the box. Stephen Dougherty took the kick for the Gaels and fired it into the back left of the goal, giving Saint Mary's the 1-0 lead.
