SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team faced another nationally recognized team on the road Sunday, but this time suffered a late setback as No. 10 UC Santa Barbara slipped past the Gaels with a goal in the 77th minute to win 1-0 at Harder Stadium.
The Gaels’ defense was strong Sunday, limiting the top-10 ranked Gauchos (4-0) to just one shot on goal before the eventual game-winner. The entire match was a defensive battle between the two teams. The game featured just 10 total shots, including only three total before halftime.
Nick DePuy scored the game-winner for UCSB.
