SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Saint Mary’s men’s soccer forward Frederick Karman was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 25-Oct. 2 after he scored two goals Saturday, the second one coming in overtime, to hand Saint Mary's a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over No. 17 West Virginia, 2,200 miles away from home at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
Already with one goal in hand, Karman gave the Gaels (3-5-3) the golden goal victory 5 minutes, 17 seconds into the first overtime period. He was opportunistic on the day, scoring his first goal on a rebound to give SMC a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute, then doing it again in the 96th minute.
