SAN DIEGO, Calif.— The Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team got off to a quick lead with a goal in the seventh minute, but could not withstand the second-half pressure from San Diego en route to a narrow 2-1 loss.
The loss ends the current three match win streak of the Gaels.
Saint Mary's (5-6-3, 1-1 WCC) was outshot by USD, 12-9. Despite outshooting San Diego (5-4-3, 1-1 WCC) 6-2 in the first half, the Toreros came out pressing in the final 45 minutes with 10 shots.
Freshman keeper Remi Prieur totaled three saves for the match and now has a season record of 3-2-1.
