LOS ANGELES – Saint Mary's Men's Soccer finished the 2023 season with a bang, upsetting No. 25 LMU 1-0 in the season finale. It was the Gaels first win over a top-25 ranked team since defeating No. 16 San Diego 3-0 in 2019, and guaranteed Saint Mary's of finishing .500 or better overall for a 10th straight season.
DEFENSIVE BATTLE
The teams were tied at zeros at the half, but the Gaels had eight shots on target to the Lions' four, and had three good scoring chances in the first half.
Bastian Toelhoej almost put one home in the 13th minute after a long cross from Wade Muttitt on the other side of the goal.
