MORAGA, Calif. — After an intense, high-energy battle up and down the court for 39 minutes and 56.3 seconds between the West Coast Conference’s top two teams Thursday, it all came down to free throws. And Saint Mary’s College junior point guard Joe Rahon was ready for his second chance.
Rahon stood on the free-throw line for two free throws versus Gonzaga with 6.6 seconds left in the game and a tied, 67-67 score on the scoreboard. The scenario was all too familiar to Rahon, who sat on the free-throw line versus Cal last month with a chance to tie the game, only to miss the front end of a one-and-one.
