TUSCON, Ariz. – Following a dominant outing against Portland on Friday, junior lefthander Ken Waldichuk was named a Collegiate Baseball National Pitcher of the Week.
In 7.0 IP, he struck out a season-high, 12 batters, allowing just six hits, one earned run, and struck out five-consecutive batters at one point. In eight starts, Waldichuk (3-3) has struck out a team-high, 53 batters in 46.2 IP, only allowing 35 hits and 17 walks. He has a 3.47 ERA. The win in the series opener against Portland foreshadowed a series sweep against the Pilots and Gaels now have a WCC-best, 13-1 record at home.
