DAVIS, Calif. — Conditions continued to stay tough at El Macero Golf Club, but somebody forgot to tell the Gaels, as they put together the first sub-par round of any team in the 2024 El Macero Classic. Saint Mary's shot an incredible (-2) round as team, surging from ninth place all the way up to first, taking the lead from Grand Canyon, who sits in third. CSUN sits one stroke behind the Gaels in second.
The Gaels epic rise was sparked by Jack Jerge. Jerge logged a pair of birdies on his fourth and fifth holes of the day, and added two more on his 10th and 11th holes.
