DAVIS, Calif. — Seldom will you see a collegiate golf tournament in which not a single team held a score below par, but that was the case on day one of the El Macero Classic, as the Gaels sit in ninth place at +19 out of 18 teams with 36 holes to go.
Connor Reis was the Gaels best performer in the first round of the tournament. The junior out of Claremont shot a 75 (+3) to tie him for 20th overall. Reis opened his day with two birdies through the first five holes, but three bogies to start the back nine would prevent Reis from shooting par or better.
