PALO ALTO, Calif. — The Saint Mary’s beach volleyball team wraps up their second day of play at the Stanford Tournament on Sunday, splitting matches between two strong California schools as the Gaels' No. 1 pair stays undefeated.
Saint Mary’s (2-2) started the day by beating Cal Poly (2-2) 3-2. The Gaels took pair No. 4 but lost No. 5 and 3 to go down early before pairs 1 and 2 came in clutch to steal the win. In their second game, the Gaels lost to #13 Stanford (3-0) 4-1. The Cardinals took pairs 2-5 giving Emily Bible and Sarah Chase their first loss of the season but were unable to stop Lindsey Knudsen and Payton Rund who stay unbeaten.
