MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary’s beach volleyball team looks to begin building momentum towards the inaugural West Coast Conference Championships when they take on two nationally ranked opponents Saturday in No. 14 California and No. 20 Santa Clara in Berkeley.
The Gaels (10-3) have twice fallen this season to a nationally ranked Cal (15-8) team, but both defeats were by only one game (3-2). The Bears had a seven-match winning streak snapped Friday in a 3-2 loss versus San Jose State. Saint Mary’s has yet to face Santa Clara (9-2) this season. The Broncos have won two straight and eight of their last nine matches, including defeating San Jose State and Stanford on Friday at Stanford.
