MORAGA, Calif. — The 2016 West Coast Conference Baseball Championship Tournament begins Thursday with the Saint Mary’s baseball team entering as the No. 1 seed, all to determine the WCC’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
The WCC champion and top-seeded Gaels (30-23, 18-9 WCC) face No. 4 seed Pepperdine (28-22, 16-11 WCC) at 3 p.m. Thursday in the opening game of the tournament. No. 2 seed BYU (37-15, 18-9 WCC) faces No. 3 Gonzaga (33-17, 18-9 WCC) at approximately 7 p.m. Thursday following the Gaels and Waves. Friday’s action features three games, two for elimination, beginning at noon.
