MORAGA, Calif. — Cameron Neff settled back into his weekend starter role Sunday for the Saint Mary’s baseball team, striking out a career-high 14 batters and holding San Francisco scoreless until the ninth inning as the Gaels won their sixth straight West Coast Conference series with a 4-2 win over the Dons in the series finale at Louis Guisto Field.
Neff’s career-high 14 strikeouts are the most strikeouts in a game by a single Saint Mary’s pitcher in at least 17 years. The Gaels had 14 strikeouts as a team on Feb. 22, 2008, versus Towson when Brandon Berl (9) and Justin Kuks (5) combined for 14.
