SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Saint Mary's (25-15, 10-4 WCC) dropped their matchup with Santa Clara (20-19, 7-7 WCC) in the second game of the three game conference set. The Gaels tried to mount a late comeback in the ninth, but fell just one run short to the Broncos in a 6-5 result.
Saint Mary's started off hot in the top of the first with Coleman Schmidt reaching on a walk and then Ryan Pierce kept it going with a two strike single. This set the table for Brian Duroff, who drove them in with a three-run home run that drilled the scoreboard in left center field.
