PHOENIX — The Saint Mary’s baseball team pulled off another comeback Sunday, but the Gaels would later fall victim to their own trend this season, as host Grand Canyon came back from an early deficit to win 8-3 in the final game of the GCU Classic at Brazell Stadium.
The Gaels (5-3) scored three runs in the fifth inning to overcome an early 1-0 deficit. Anthony Villa extended his hitting streak to five games with a bases-clearing double to drive in three runs and give the Gaels a 3-1 lead. But the ’Lopes answered right back with a run in the bottom half to cut it to 3-2.
