SPOKANE, Wash. — Another big offensive showing and comeback effort fell just short for the Saint Mary's baseball team Sunday, as Gonzaga avoided a sweep at the hands of the Gaels with runs in the bottom of the ninth and 10th to walk off with a 12-11 at Patterson Baseball Complex.
Saint Mary's (28-15, 11-7 WCC) carried an 11-10 lead for four innings before Gonzaga (26-16, 15-6 WCC) rallied. The Gaels had erased deficits of 7-2 and 10-5. But the Bulldogs got their leadoff runner on in both the ninth and 10th frames, then got one-out RBI singles both times to bring them home, first to tie it in the ninth and then to win it in the 10th.
