MORAGA, Calif. — Off to its best five-game start to the season in four years, the Saint Mary’s baseball team will bring momentum with it when it travels to Phoenix to participate in the GCU Classic, hosted by Grand Canyon University, starting Friday.
Saint Mary’s (4-1) last had at least four wins in its first five games of the season in 2012 when it started 5-0. Three of the Gaels’ four victories have been of the come-from-behind variety, including Tuesday’s five-run eighth-inning rally to beat UC Santa Barbara 7-4 on the road.
The Gaels will face three different teams over three days in Phoenix, including two conference champions from a year ago.
