MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary’s baseball team clinched its fifth straight West Coast Conference series victory Friday and moved into sole possession of first place behind a strong start from Johnny York and nine hits from the middle of the lineup to defeat BYU 7-4 at Louis Guisto Field.
The win was the Gaels’ (20-11, 10-4 WCC) second straight come-from-behind win in the series and eighth of the season after BYU (26-7, 9-5 WCC) took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. York (4-3) posted his fourth outing of eight innings or more, going 8 1/3 with four strikeouts.
