BSB | Comeback Gaels Do It Again In Opener vs. BYU

MORAGA, Calif. — Over-the-top performances by underclassmen propelled the Saint Mary’s baseball team to another come-from-behind victory Thursday, this time toppling West Coast Conference leader BYU, 5-4, in the opener of a three-game series at Louis Guisto Field.

The Gaels (19-11, 9-4 WCC) trailed BYU (26-6, 9-4 WCC) 3-1 through 6 1/2 innings but would score four runs in the final three, including Joey Fiske’s walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth, for the win. It was Saint Mary’s seventh come-from-behind win of the season and fourth triumph when taking the lead in the ninth inning or later.
