MORAGA, Calif. — With his second consecutive complete game shutout, Corbin Burnes won a tight pitching duel Thursday against Brandon Bailey of Gonzaga, as the Saint Mary's baseball team beat the Bulldogs 2-0 in the opening game of a three-game West Coast Conference series at Louis Guisto Field.
Burnes (4-0) followed his near no-hitter on Friday at San Diego with a 127-pitch shutout of Gonzaga (11-8, 2-2 WCC) Thursday. Burnes struck out six and walked just one while scattering four hits in nine innings of shutout ball.
