MORAGA, Calif. – The Gaels battled the No. 30 UCSB Gauchos to a 5-3 loss on Tuesday in a game where they fought back from a 4-1 deficit to make it a 4-3 game in the seventh. SMC is now 14-7 overall and UC Santa Barbara moved to 13-5.
Gauchos starter JD Callahan hit Christopher Campos on the first pitch he threw in the game and then walked Nathan Chong on five pitches. But he would settle in from there getting a strikeout and a double play to end the threat in the first.
