SAN DIEGO – The USD Toreros salvaged a game with a 16-2 win over Saint Mary's on Saturday afternoon after the Gaels swept Friday's double header. San Diego took advantage of SMC's sloppiness, as the Gaels committed four errors, issued three balks, and hit six batters.
Saint Mary's struck first after Napier walked, Almanza doubled, and hit a sac fly to go up 1-0 in the first inning. But USD answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning with an RBI groundout, a pair of singles, and a bases-loaded walk to go up 4-1.
