Third-year center Deyonta Davis has been waived by the Sacramento Kings. Davis, who acquired in the Garrett Temple trade, never projected to make a big impact for the team.
The news, which was first reported by ESPN’s Marc Spears, did not come out of the blue, as Davis’s place on the roster was never truly solidified since he came over from Memphis.
Davis, 21, was going to be buried behind the likes of Willie Cauley-Stein, Harry Giles, Zach Randolph, Skal Labissiere, Nemanja Bjelica and Marvin Bagley III among other on the depth chart, so his release isn’t a big surprise.
