Robertson to be Recognized at Indy 500

Oscar Robertson is known for many of his unbelievable records and performances while playing in the early days of what we now know as the NBA.

Before his ascent into superstardom and enshrinement into the Basketball Hall of Fame, Robertson was a member of the groundbreaking Indianapolis Attucks High School basketball team who won the 1955 and 1956 state titles capping a 45-game winning-streak.

Now, Robertson and the surviving members of that ’55 squad will be celebrated in a manner that was denied to them 60 years ago.

According to a press release about the parade, “prior to 1955, the team that won the state basketball title took a ride on a fire truck around Indianapolis landmark Monument Circle, and then celebrated downtown.
