George Lemon III, better known as “Meadowlark” Lemon, passed away Sunday at the age of 83.
Considered the “Clown Prince of Basketball”, Lemon played in over 16,000 games for the Harlem Globetrotters and was a 2003 inductee in the Hall of Fame. His times on the court regularly included halfcourt hook shots, incredible passes and on-court gags that earned him the infamous “Clown Prince” title.
When the legendary Wilt Chamberlain was asked who the best player of all-time was, he responded with Lemon’s name.
Although never a player in the NBA or ABA, Meadowlark made a lasting impression on the game of basketball.
