An assignment in the D-League breeds opportunity for up-and-coming players. Rookies Malachi Richardson and Skal Labissiere took full advantage of their own chances in an early season stint with the Reno Bighorns.
During his stay with the Bighorns, Richardson was one of the team's top scorers. He averaged 21 points while shooting better than 40-plus percent from the field and three-point distance. He had a number of stellar performances, which include a 32-point outing against Rio Grande this past Sunday. His most memorable outing thus far, however, came when he hit a game-winning, fade-way jumper at the buzzer to give Reno a 110-108 win over the Texas Legends in late November.
