The Sacramento Kings have added Hall of Fame basketball player Nancy Lieberman to George Karl’s coaching staff, Cowbell Kingdom has confirmed. Sacramento Bee’s Ailene Voisin first reported news of a move.
Lieberman’s hire makes her only the second female assistant coach in NBA history, following Becky Hammon in August 2014. The 57-year-old Lieberman became the first woman to head coach a men’s pro basketball team when she took over the D-League’s Texas Legends in November 2009.
In addition to leading the Legends, the Hall of Fame point guard coached the WNBA’s Detroit Shock.
