Frank Mason’s injury situation is worse than we feared. An MRI revealed that the Kings rookie guard has a partial tear in his right plantar fascia tendon, and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks as a result.
Mason injured his foot in the Dec. 31st game against the Memphis Grizzlies after falling awkwardly when attempting to rebound the ball off of a missed free throw. Originally diagnosed as a right heel contusion, Mason went in for the MRI after traditional treatments failed to show improvement.
Mason is averaging 7.6 points and 2.9 assists so far in his rookie campaign, and had recently been getting even more rotation time while De’Aaron Fox had been out with his own injury.
