The Big Ten Tournament will be played at Madison Square Garden next week, but commissioner Jim Delany admitted to The Chicago Tribune he made his league's coaches and players walk some rough terrain to get there.
The Big Ten wasn't going to break the Big East's stranglehold on the arena for its conference tournament week. So the Big Ten had to condense its schedule in order to play a week ahead of the Big East. In hindsight, Delany said the crammed schedule wasn't "healthy" and he doesn't plan to take that approach again, meaning it might be a while before Rutgers plays another conference tournament in its backyard.
