Two months after Geo Baker verbally committed to play for the Rutgers men's basketball program, Steve Pikiell traveled six hours north to New Hampshire to watch his recruit in action.
The Rutgers coach was six months into the job, and Baker was about two months away from making the commitment official with a signature on a National Letter of Intent.
The high school boys basketball season had yet to begin, so Pikiell figured what better way to watch his future point guard compete than to see him on the pitch.
Pikiell sat in the Proctor Academy bleachers and watched Baker play soccer.
