At his first meeting with Rutgers quarterbacks as offensive coordinator in 2014, Ralph Friedgen handed out a packet with an overabundance of information.
"Within the first week he gave us a test on all that stuff -- and we all failed as a unit," then-Rutgers senior star Gary Nova told NJ Advance Media last week. "He ripped us. He came at me like, 'You are supposed to be the leader and starter.'"
Friedgen -- like each of the last seven Rutgers offensive coordinators since 2010 -- lasted just one year in the job, which now belongs to Jerry Kill as second-year Rutgers coach Chris Ash seeks continuity to stop the revolving door.
