With the search to find the next Rutgers football coach in full swing, a familiar name is circulating at the top of the list of candidates: Greg Schiano.
The former Scarlet Knights coach who abruptly left the program in 2012 to take over as head coach of the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers is considered one of three favorite choices for the Rutgers job, along with former Miami coach Al Golden and current Western Michigan coach P.J. Fleck, according to NJ Advance Media reports.
Prominent New Jersey high school coaches said that succeeding at Rutgers in the competitive Big Ten Conference will be a challenge, but that Schiano would be one of the top choices for the task.
