Bill Belichick just released a Rutgers player. In other news:
As Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports 1 originally reported, The New England Patriots have released TE Tim Wright. The Patriots acquired Wright from the Buccaneers along with a 4th-round pick for guard Logan Mankins. Although he caught 6 TDs in 2014, he was wildly inconsistent as he failed to catch a pass during the Patriots Super Bowl run. The Patriots acquired Scott Chandler to back up star TE Rob Gronkowski. Cutting Wright solidifies Michael Hoomanawanui's spot as the 3rd-string TE.
Wright played wide receiver at Rutgers and was awarded the team MVP award following the 2012 season.
