This was supposed to be the deal when the Big Ten invited Rutgers in 2012: The Scarlet Knights would exist on a sliver of the conference's revenue pie for its first six years in the league, but after that, it would enjoy a full share of the lavish league riches until the end of time.
But what if the end of time -- or, at least, the end of those riches -- came soon after Rutgers finally got its fair share?
That is a real scenario facing the conference now in an era of declining cable revenues and cord cutting.
