Lester Erb had a simple message for his charges when he took over as Rutgers’ wide receivers coach earlier this year.
“When practices in the spring started, he just came to us and said, ‘Listen, the culture has to change here,’” sophomore Hunter Hayek told NJ Advance Media. “‘We have to do things differently than last year, because obviously we weren’t successful. Things have to change. It starts with the decisions we make.’”
After a year coaching the Scarlet Knights’ running backs, Erb was inheriting a reclamation project after previous position coach Jafar Williams left for a job at Maryland.
