PISCATAWAY – The phrase “once in a blue moon” fails to adequately characterize how rarely a two-sport athlete plays on the Rutgers football team.
Since Joe Porter’s days on the gridiron and track ended in 2006-07, there have been four blue moons — but no multi-sport standouts. Until now.
Meet Jawuan “Jay” Harris, a freshman wide receiver who plans to play center field for Rutgers’ baseball team in the spring. He also intends to major in pre-med. When he tells people all this, it’s like they’ve spotted a Yeti.
It's rarer than a blue moon (I checked).
