PISCATAWAY — Even after four years as Rutgers baseball teammates, two years as college roommates and one year among the Big Ten’s brightest stars, it’s still not clear who was at fault when R.J. Devish and Howie Brey nearly started fighting during a Shore Conference high school game.
Here’s the situation: With Brey playing first base for Middletown South and Devish taking his lead off the bag for Toms River South, an errant pick-off throw caused the two to get entangled.
“He was basically on top of me and I was trying to get him off me,” Devish said.
