Rutgers coach Chris Ash did his best to downplay his team's second of three intrasquad scrimmages in training camp, cautioning the media (and the fan base by extension) not to take too much stock out of how the Scarlet Knights performed.
Because he held out numerous veteran starters out of precaution with two weeks to go before the Sept. 1 opener against Texas State, Ash said position battles wouldn't likely be decided based on the outcome of the two-hour practice before 1,000 fans at HighPoint.com Stadium.
