Rutgers Wrestling Aims for Midlands Title

After a long break for exams and the holidays, the Rutgers wrestling team is back in action today at the prestigious Midlands Championships. The event is hosted by Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois. Forty-two teams and over 400 individual wrestlers will compete, making it the largest field in the fifty-three year history of the Midlands Championships. Eight of the top ten teams from last year's tournament return this year.

It's the first time Rutgers has participated as a team in this tournament since 2011, when they finished in 11th place. The best individual finish that Rutgers has had at Midlands was Mario Mason, placing as the runner-up at 149 pounds in 2011.
