Rutgers Wrestling held their wrestle-off/indicator matches this morning at the APC in Piscataway. Coach Goodale reiterated his stance during media day that these matches aren’t for determining the starting lineup and are rather used to get an idea of where everyone stands in the roster and also to simulate a match-day experience.
The wrestle-offs weren’t open to the public, but the results were updated in real time via the Rutgers Wrestling Twitter account. The depth at 133lbs and heavyweight were on display today as both weights saw five contests.
Notable results included returning All-American Jackson Turley earning a tight decision over a game Connor O’Neill, Andrew Clark besting Jake Benner in overtime, and true freshman Anthony White taking out both 2019 varsity starter Gerard Angelo and two-time NCAA qualifier Mike VanBrill.
