The No. 25 Rutgers women’s soccer team opened the 2021 season with an impressive 6-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday night. Nine different players were involved in the scoring while Meagan McClelland and Emma Huntzinger combined for the shutout in goal. RU outshot FDU 26-2 on the night in dominating the game, including 14-1 with shots on goal.
The Scarlet Knights got on the scoreboard in just the 4th minute of the season as Penn State transfer Frankie Tagliaferri found Amirah Ali, who was able to deliver in the box. The two All-Americans made it clear from the outset that together they will pose a major challenge for opponents this season.
